As the name suggests it, this festival is entirely dedicated to lemons – which are so important to all Cinque Terre residents, not only because of the fruits, but also because of the shade the lemon trees provide. This festival is held every year, in June, before the Ascension Sunday. While for tourists this might be an ordinary day dedicated to a somewhat ordinary fruit, this is actually a representation of these peoples’ joy of life – how to express it better than to search for the biggest lemon in town, or to make your window shop the most beautiful in town by simply decorating it with lemons? On every street in Monterosso, tourists can hear live music during the Lemon Feast.
